Research Coordinator

Are you committed to supporting and conducting research that centers the strengths and needs of diverse communities? We are seeking a passionate, experienced researcher to support the work of the SisterSong research team. In this role, you will be an integral member of the research team, co-leading research grant applications and supporting both day-to-day research tasks as well as the long-term strategic vision of the research team. There is room to grow in this role and the successful candidate will be an individual who is comfortable primarily working behind the scenes with some opportunities to serve as a representative of SisterSong in various RJ movement and research-affiliated spaces. This role will directly support and report to the Research Manager.

Position Summary:

The Research Coordinator (RC) will be responsible for supporting the research team’s work ranging from the design of research studies to dissemination activities, including the Research in Action webinar series. The RC will be a team player, leveraging their experience as a researcher to aid in pursuing and maintaining intentional research partnerships and creating successful research grant applications primarily for foundation funders. The RC will also participate in data collection, analysis, write-up, and dissemination of mixed methods research studies.

Essential Duties:

  1. Coordinate day-to-day components of the SisterSong Research Team’s portfolio of community-based participatory research studies including administrative tasks, event support and reporting, data analysis, collection, write-up and dissemination. 

  2. Co-lead on the identification of and application(s) for grants to support the growing work and portfolio of the Research Team.

  3. Contribute as a thought partner on the development of new SisterSong research studies and partnerships.

  4. Support the growth of the research team by nurturing existing partnerships and supporting new partnerships.

  5. Serve as a representative of SisterSong across contexts including in RJ movement and research spaces.

  6. Assist as needed with cross-departmental and all-staff events including Essence Festival of Culture, the Let’s Talk About Sex Conference, and Black (In)fertility Awareness Week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related.

Two to five years of experience conducting research studies in the field of reproductive justice, sexual and reproductive health, public health, family planning, or related.

Experience leading qualitative research project(s)

Demonstrated track record of successfully gaining funding for the purpose of conducting research.

Experience with applying to, and receiving grants from any funding source is welcome, experience receiving funding from foundations is preferred.

Demonstrated experience working and/or volunteering in reproductive health, rights and justice.

Commitment to advancing the tenets of reproductive justice.

Georgia State Coordinator

We are seeking a dynamic Georgia State Coordinator to lead our state-based organizing and initiatives in alignment with our mission to advance reproductive freedom, maternal health, and social justice for all. In this role, you will be the strategic driver of our Georgia efforts—cultivating partnerships, mobilizing communities, and ensuring our work reflects the needs and priorities of those most impacted. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of movement-building and to shape the future of reproductive justice in Georgia.

Position Summary:

The GA State Coordinator (SC) will be responsible for leading SisterSong’s state-based advocacy efforts. The SC will employ organizing and media skills with policy and advocacy experience to help promote the reproductive justice framework throughout the state with grassroots communities as well as other movements. The GA SC will also coordinate work specific to religious exemptions in the state. The GA SC is a key organizational representative, among those who represent SisterSong before the press, our membership, and the public.

Essential Duties:

  1. Planning, development, and implementation of new programs.

  2. Develop and implement base-building plan for the assigned, homebased state.

  3. Develop an understanding of existing RJ organizations and relationships across the state to foster and maintain partnerships.

  4. Attend state roundtables, events, convenings, and meetings to mobilize communities.

  5. Identify, coordinate, and support, the organizing needs of marginalized groups.

  6. Build relationships with leadership of social justice organizations.

  7. Facilitate RJ and other trainings in the state. Partner with Reproductive Justice, Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights organizations to bring programing into the state.

  8. Track policy and legislation to inform programmatic work and organizing.

  9. Speaking engagements (speeches, panels, presentations) on SisterSong’s behalf across the state.

  10. Creation of program promotion materials – including submission of orders for graphic design, and event materials

  11. Host conference calls with planning committees and state partners.

  12. Organizational reporting – including event reports, expense reports, monthly and quarterly programming reports.

  13. Attend of interest conferences and convenings on behalf of SisterSong.

  14. Create evaluations for programming to be used for development.

  15. Collaborate with staff for cross departmental programming and organizing.

  16. Assist in the planning and implementation of organizational programming and convenings.

  17. Ongoing grassroots fundraising support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, political Science or similar, required.

Three to five years of experience in community outreach, social work required. (Master’s degree in lieu of experience and/or combination will be considered)
