Faith Work
Faith is a powerful force in our lives, in our communities, and in our movements. It shapes both policy and personal decision-making alike, and we know that faith and Reproductive Justice are not opposites; they are deeply intertwined. At SisterSong, our faith work is grounded in the belief that Spirit and people power together can move us toward a freedom that centers, celebrates, and calls in our whole bodies. We honor the sacred truth that justice is holy work, and we step into it with intention, joy, and community.
What We Do
Our programming is woven throughout our state-based organizing and national movement strategy. At SisterSong, we center the power of the people, understanding that the power of spirit and the power of our collective work have a spiritual impact that transforms our access to justice and freedom. Our work invites faith communities, faith leaders, and people of faith into the movement for Reproductive Justice through intentional organizing, political education, and sacred space-making.
Highlights of our work include:

Why It Matters
Reproductive freedom is a spiritual right. It is your birthright and your sacred inheritance to make decisions about your body, your health, and your future that is supported through policies that protect your right to choose as you desire about your body. We believe that birth justice, food access, affordable health care, jobs, and safety are not political abstractions; they are spiritual mandates that remind us, as people of faith, to to care for the least of those among us and to treat our neighbors as we would want to be treated ourselves. It is imperative that we make it plain, Christian nationalism does not speak for all people of faith. It is a tool of control, not a reflection of divinity. SisterSong’s faith work challenges harmful narratives and uplifts the truth: our faith calls us to justice. And that includes bodily autonomy, collective care, and full freedom.
